Job Description: Facility and Maintenance Head
The Facility and Maintenance Head is responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, operation, and maintenance of all physical infrastructure, utility systems, and grounds. This role ensures a safe, functional, and efficient environment for employees, students, or visitors by managing a multidisciplinary team of technicians and external contractors.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Management: Oversee the upkeep of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems.
Strategic Planning: Develop and execute long-term preventative maintenance schedules and capital improvement projects.
Budget Oversight: Manage the department budget, including procurement of supplies, equipment, and service contracts.
Safety & Compliance: Ensure the facility meets all local building codes, occupational health and safety (OHS) standards, and environmental regulations.
Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and evaluate maintenance staff and janitorial teams.
Vendor Management: Negotiate and manage contracts with external service providers and construction firms.
Emergency Response: Act as the primary point of contact for facility emergencies and system failures.
Preferred Certifications
Candidates are typically required or highly preferred to hold at least one of the following:
Certified Facility Manager (CFM): Issued by the International Facility Management Association (IFMA).
Facilities Management Professional (FMP): For those focusing on technical and operational excellence.
Registered Professional Engineer (PE): Specific to the candidate's field of study (e.g., Registered Mechanical Engineer).
Safety Certification: Such as OSHA 30-Hour General Industry or equivalent local safety board certification.
